The Large Hadron Collider

The biggest physics experiment ever, has started up. Here are a few places to start.

1) The Z Particle in 3-D is a lesson about CERN's work with the Large Electron Positron Collider that used the same tunnel and which got dissassembled to make way for the LHC. The experimental physics has not changed much except to get bigger.

2) A Rap About the LHC is five minutes long and sums it up very well.

3) The ATLAS detector is featured here in a set of video clips (10 minutes in total) which describes what each part does. It gives a very good sense of the huge scale of the detector.

4) CERN has other resources for teachers, some of which are reviewed here.
